Soul Asylum finds "Replacement" bass player

I have it on good authority that Soul Asylum has drafted former Replacements bass player Tommy Stinson to take over for the recently deceased Karl Mueller. I think this is pretty cool. I know that some people in the Minneapolis music scene don't care all that much for Tommy and think he can be an ass. The one time I had to deal with him he was very gracious (although I suspect his mother may have twisted his arm!).

Anyway, it's good to see him joining the band. I can't say that I'm the biggest Soul Asylum fan in the world, but I like to see them do well. Who knows, maybe this will even lead to a Replacements reunion show. I could only be so lucky.

The above image is of Soul Asylum in the early 1980s. They had just put their first album in the can and were feeling pretty good. Left to Right: Karl, Danny, Dave, and Pat. This photo was taken by Dave Chisholm and used without his permission.
